I Have Decided I Must Write A Book

It has come to my attention that I am really failing miserably as  blogger. I don't network, I don't do memes. I can't even pronounce meme. I haven't paid anyone to do my blog design and I don't go to conferences. I don't have a button you can grab! I'm a complete and utter failure. I'm sorry. Don't look at me! I'm too ashamed.

Instead of doing something simple like promoting my blog more, I've decided I need to write a book. I love writing! It should be easy, right? Hell, everyone's written a book- so I don't see why I can't. I know Paris Hilton wrote one, because I bought it at the dollar store as a gag gift.
Well, I have learned that writing a book is NOT that easy. For starters, you need to start. Starting things is hard! I'm really busy. And I'm really tired! *sadface* Staying up all night watching Big Love episodes on HBO GO is really exhausting! So I just don't have a lot of energy to spare lately. And you know, I do other stuff too. Like.... stuff with the kids, or whatever.
Another thing I have learned about writing a book is that you need to have something to write about, What could I possibly write enough about that it would fill a whole (short) book? I really don't know. Like I said, I'm busy watching HBO. Since I have THE BEST READERS IN THE WORLD, I have decided to make you do the work ask your opinion! What shall I write my book about, my dear mama friends? You guys are so smart, and funny. I know that you will give me some good ideas. And you know, If you want to write a few sample chapters or something- feel free!
Thank you my dears! You know Not Blessed Mama loves you- always!

  1. I love it! And no, I won't write your book. However, I will mention you in mine (should I ever have the time energy or focus ;-). I love your blogs. And I wish you'd go to a conference so we could hang out (I'm attending my first in October).

In the meantime, keep up the "bad" work. Someone will ALWAYS be reading! Smooches!

  2. Dude, who has TIME for promoting their blog??? Seriously, when I started mine and realized how much effort I would have to put into making it successful I said FORGET IT. It was like having a full time job, and I am already busy ignoring my children full time. Can you just imagine if I tried to promote it?

Also, I paid peanuts for my design to a guy who was just messing around to see if he could do it. And I never bought my URL. Too expensive, and for what! Blogger is free, thanks!

So here is what I think about a book- its a lot of work. Who needs it? I wanted to write one too but that hard work thing really killed it. I can barely keep up my blog. I say you direct your energy to entertaining your loyal readers right here and now. We need you! :)

  3. Are you my secret twin? I've been blogging for almost a year, and it has become apparent that I'm not going to be a blogging success. Like you, I really don't have much inclination to pimp out my blog. Simple ideas about social networking, like Twitter, memes, and conferences fly right over my head, so I'm woefully behind the times.

But, BUT! After blogging this long I've discovered that I can make anything, ANYTHING into a story. Starting about 3 months ago, I've written a few creative non-fiction pieces. I've submitted these pieces to various writing conferences. I know I won't win the contests; I'm just too new to the writing biz. But I'm hoping to at least get some constructive criticism. My next steps? Start some creative writing (short stories, novel?) and take a creative writing course.

But I'll keep blogging, as it keeps the creative juices flowing.
